Realistic Fine Art Pencil Drawings

Artist Biography

As a third generation cowboy, Shelby Brannin grew up on a twenty acre ranch in Northern New Mexico and was riding horses and experiencing cowboy life before he could pull on his boots. He competed in rodeo from an early age and eventually the PRCA after college. Shelby also began drawing as a young boy and it was second nature for him to capture the same detail on paper as he strived for in the arena. Shelby is self-taught and works in graphite pencil. His sensitivity and painstaking eye for detail gives his work a depth and dimension that is truly unique. Shelby devotes his time and energy to sharing his creative gift with others.

Shelby's college sweetheart and wife of seventeen years, along with their newborn baby daughter, live at the base of the Sandia mountain range in Albuquerque, New Mexico. From his studio, overlooking the magnificent Sandia's, Shelby creates his drawings and brings his images to life. He invites you to step up into the saddle and take a ride with him as his artwork captures the heart and the experience of the great American Southwest.
